ANR Construction Ltd based in Kelowna, B.C. were engaged in September 2019 to undertake the build out of a franchise beauty boutique in Saskatoon, SK. The work was completed on time and on budget and was always professionally managed. They engaged local sub-contractors to perform most of the construction work and utilized local business when required. They interacted wit h myself, as owner, in a professional manner and kept me up to date with progress on the project. I was encouraged to be “involved” in the day to day progress so that issues could be settled promptly without incurring any delays. A final inspection was per formed with ANR’s onsite Project Supervisor at the conclusion of the build out and any sub-standard or incomplete work was promptly attended to so that the project was completed to a high standard. A few minor design and finishing issues that were only noted after the final inspection were also brought to ANR’s attention after completion and they were promptly remedied to ensure my satisfaction. I would thoroughly recommend ANR Construction Limited as a trusted and professional Contractor who are focused on providing a high standard of work as well as ensuring complete customer satisfaction.

Hillman AV has worked on over 50 different projects with ANR Construction across 2 different types of clients, retail and restaurants.

Their ability to plan and execute fast paced, demanding projects like restaurants is an example of their management skills. Our common clients had evolving brands which always kept us inventing ways to maintain timelines.

Our experience with ANR has been positive. They take feedback and listen to our needs so we can make quick work of our scope. We have been hired through the client and not directly by ANR, but they always made us part of the team. ANR held weekly site projection meetings and kept in contact even when we were not on the site.

ANR’s site supervisors have always been knowledgeable of our scope of work which I’m sure is translated down from their PM’s. When we need something rushed, they try their best to accommodate even though we are not one of their subtrade’s. Always a treat working with their staff.

Curatist Studio has worked on designing 3 projects over the last 2 years with ANR – 2 salons and a large bowling alley.

ANR’s code knowledge greatly helped during our design phase meetings with the clients. Restaurant clients always want to maximize seating in the smallest space possible. During our initial space planning meeting ANR made note of a new code changing egress paths to 1500mm from the 1200mm in the previous code. Thankfully this was done early in the planning, so the client did not have the expectations of a higher occupant load.

On the smaller salon projects ANR was able to aid on the building permit applications. This made our job much easier. After the plan review ANR returned the drawings to use so we could update the, into IFC drawings. Many GC’s overlook this step and when the final is called on a project there are outstanding issues.

Working with ANR has proven to be an asset to the design process with industry knowledge that aids in the execution of a well designed project – I look forward to working with them again in the future.

We are wiring this letter of reference for ANR construction as a testament to the quality of their work and character in their pursuit of a Residential Builders License – and to reflect on their knowledge of and competency in code knowledge and construction technology.

We have worked, on several projects and many years with Rob and Mark Zumbo and ANR construction Our most recent collaboration is the Kelowna Visitor Centre for Tourism Kelowna.

The project possessed many challenging features from foundations to roof structure. The building elevation was heavily coordinated for the 200-year flood and existing park drainage around it. Once the building height was determined the foundations had seismic considerations.

The building has become an important part of Kelowna’s Urban Waterfront. The design along, including some complex and innovative building features distinguish the Visitor Centre from the others in the area.

Keeping the building efficient was goal from the start. Adding vapor permeable air barriers, continuous rigid insulation under exterior finishes, and a curved metal roof were highlights to this. The complexity of the curved roof and changing radii continue to make the building unique. The building utilized technological energy saving mechanical equipment. Fan coils and heat pumps as natural gas was not viable. LED lighting was used to reduce energy. Solar panels were later added to further reduce the energy consumption. ANR played a key role in the building.

The project was a runner up in the Institutional category for Woodworks BC (behind the Centre for Reconciliation at UBC Main Campus in Vancouver) and won an OMREB Award of Merit in 2018.

ANR Construction Ltd. was our general contractor (GC) that built our 3,638 square ft, Cora Breakfast and Lunch Franchise in 2016, as well as the GC for our 15,265 square ft, Family Entertainment Center in 2019. We were extremely satisfied with the quality, workmanship and professionalism of ANR Construction Ltd, its employees and subcontractors throughout all aspects of both projects.

Weekly calls were held with our architect, project manager and ANR Construction Ltd. and any concerns were promptly addressed by the onsite supervisor. The quality of work performed was exceptional with any deficiencies quickly resolved to our satisfaction. ANR Construction and all the subtrades adhered to all safety rules to ensure risks were mitigated.

Both projects were completed on time and under a very aggressive schedule. Mark Zumbo and his team’s extensive knowledge in municipal and provincial building permit codes and in construction was an invaluable resource to us.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with the ANR team and a special thank you to Mark Zumbo for leading the project successfully. I would highly recommend them for any future project and will continue to use them as our primary general contractor
